Comments from Phil:
First of all, I'd like to say thanks to the guys at Mega64 for kind of inspiring this video. I had planned to try something similar to their videos, in which I would put on a costume and romp around town just doing whatever. Nobody seemed interested at first, but Arek suggested doing it one day, so we did! And it was tons of fun! I already had the costume on anyways (filming for another movie) so why not? We already saw how...interesting...it was to see peoples' reactions to a low budget Batman riding his bike around, so we thought we'd kick it up a notch and deal with these people directly. Oh, how wonderful it is to take the norm away from someone's life for just a little while!
We basically just walked around the neighbourhood plaza, and I acted like Batman (although, a very relaxed Batman). A lot of people stared, obviously, and some people seemed to enjoy it and played along (like the Blockbuster lady). That makes it all worthwhile! But then there were people who found it extremely stupid because they're so uptight and do not know how to take a joke. That was not very nice, but I'm Batman, so their words and their scowls did not hurt me!
This certainly was an interesting little experiment. It tested my courage to be able to do such a thing in public (I guess the mask gets rid of some of my shyness) and put other people in awkward situations. I should be Batman more often!
